Mines Road Books, based in Fremont, California, has been publishing books and booklets on local history since 1978.
We are a family run, independent, small-press, self-publishing and self-distributing firm. Our books are sold mainly by
mail and at local museums, specialty bookstores, and small shops in the San Francisco Bay Area. We are proud that some
of our books have been used in teaching local history, establishing historic monuments, and guiding archaeological digs.
Our name comes from the road that winds through the scenic mountains in southeastern Alameda County, California, which
was once the scene of various mining activities.
